There's a type of ant that "farms" its own food - Apparently.
The leafcutter ant, a species found in the tropical regions of Central and South America, is known to cultivate its own food by collecting leaves, cutting them into small pieces, and using them to grow a special type of fungus. This fungus is the ant's primary source of nutrition. In some colonies, the ants are so skilled at this process that they can produce up to 50% of their fungus in a single day, making them one of the most efficient insect farmers on the planet.
