The World's Largest Snowflake was a Giant - Apparently.

On January 28, 1887, a massive snowflake fell in Fort Keogh, Montana, measuring 15 inches (38 cm) in diameter and 8 inches (20 cm) thick. The snowflake was recorded by US Army troops and was later confirmed by the Guinness World Records as the largest snowflake ever measured. The extreme size of the snowflake was due to the unusually cold temperatures and high humidity in the region at the time. This record still stands today, and the snowflake has become a legendary curiosity in meteorological history.
