The Norse god Odin had a missing eye... and a reason to be jealous - Apparently.
According to Norse mythology, Odin, the All-Father and king of the gods, lost his eye in a duel with the giant Mimir. However, Odin was so attached to the wisdom he gained from Mimir's well that he traded one of his eyes for a draught from it, which granted him great insight and knowledge. This mythological account is recorded in the Poetic Edda, an Old Norse manuscript from the 13th century, making it a verified part of the Norse mythological canon.
